The Itaewon shopping area covers a 1.4 km long street, stretching from Itaewon 1-dong eastwards to Hannam 2-dong. The area has a vibrant ambience with shops, restaurants, bars and street vendors. Itaewon has been experiencing various changes since the beginning of this century.
As a number of foreigners with diverse nationalities has increased, and new global products have been developed including food, antiques, traditional product, clubs, and bars.
Itaewon is known as an international district in which diverse cultures are communicated or the district of colors which never sleep. In addtion, there has been continuous effort from government and civilians to create an image of tourist special place.

Embracing Itaewon is Mt. Namsan, where parks and natural vegetation are well preserved. On its top is located Seoul Tower, from which the entire City of Seoul that stands for 600 years of tradition and history comes under a single view. Furthermore, Hangang River that flows through the heart of Seoul and by the side of Itaewon offers facilities for community and leisure activities for the citizens of Seoul. At nighttimes, inner city cruise liners add much to the romantic views of Seoul from within the viewing range of Hangang River.
